The podere I GUFI is situated in the center of Tuscany, in the Valdinievole, where the rolling hills alternate with the valleys and every small town and village has its history, its fortification, its fortress. Serravalle Pistoiese, with its fortified castle, is but one example of a town that held a strategic position for the battles that occurred between the city of Lucca and Florence both vying for the rich harvests of the countryside.

In Tuscany the fossil of an olive tree recovered in the region of Livorno dates back 20 million years. Probably a wild olive tree, a great anscestor of the plant we know today. It, however demonstrates how far back the cultivation of the olive tree goes in Tuscany. Florence, even thought lacking a sea port, held supremacy in the commercialization of the oil, thanks to the Medici family who developed the "olivicola" cultivation in Tuscany. Lorenzo "Magnifico" and his descendants made the olive plant and its extra virgin oil the main resource of the region.

The particularly favourable geographic position of the podere "I Gufi" makes excursions to the cities of art such as Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Siena easy. The sea region of Versilia and the region of Chianti are also within easy reach.
